The Gucci Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear Collection is smooth, colorful, and textured with chunky knitwear and sporty attire refashioned for the elusive flirt. The leather goods luxury brand has created a clean aesthetic for the actively inclined that is one part posh, one part edgy (think of James Bond on a summer trip to San Sebastián and you’ll get the picture). While there are quite a bit of mauve purple and forest green color tones in the collection, there is also a flurry of flowers scattered on pant suits, jump suits, and long-sleeved dress shirts. Regarding construction, the cropped leggings are composed of mixed textile pieces and graphically sewn together. The blazers also notably tout asymmetrical, double pockets that warrant attention.
However, with all the floral-heavy prints invested in the looks, the masculinity of the collection is unmistakably present, thus leaving us to nod approvingly at Gucci’s take on the modern-age dandy.
