Tie-dye is in the midst of a full-blown resurgence this season, and Outlier is joining the fray by hand dyeing its ultrafine 17.5 micron merino tee with natural indigo. The crewneck tees are made in the Bay Area with fabric from New Zealand, and dyed in Outlier’s studio in Brooklyn. After the shirts are wrapped and immersed in natural indigo dye, they’re treated with a dye fixative and then washed with a special detergent to remove extraneous particles. Finally, the shirts are hung out to dry in a sunny corner of the studio. Available in diagonal or vertical finishes, each tee is one of a kind, featuring variations in the tie-dye pattern.
