It's almost hard to believe a world before the Nike Air Max, which first hit the market back in 1987. It was one of Nike's (and the sneaker industry as whole) biggest technology and stylistic innovations. To help pay tribute to the small air-filled capsule at the bottom of some of the most iconic sneakers on the market, Nike hosted "The Sneaker Ball" timed just before the Paris Fashion Week. The event was staged at the spot that first inspired Tinker Hatfield, The Pompidou Centre in Paris to a strictly by-invite-only crowd that included Air Max ambassadors, fans, and other sneaker big-wigs from all over the world. The event included the crowning of the King and Queen of the Sneaker Ball with custom Air Max trophies, Tinker signing autographs, an Air Max showcase, and even waffles and hotdogs.
