Nike – Sports and Culture Collide in Shanghai Collection | Preview

By - July 8th, 2013

July 13th will mark the official launch of Nike‘s “Ignite Shanghai” Collection, an ambitious undertaking that will reflect the culture of this centuries-old cosmopolitan and its love of sport. In all, a total of 10 special edition footwear will be release in a one-per-week increment throughout a 10-week period, each specifically created for the project. Highlighting not just Shanghai’s vibrant street ball communities and the repeated running routine seen in its parks daily, the collection will also be focusing on Shanghai’s lesser known skateboard and streetwear cultures. With references to “Luwan Never Gone 310103,” homage to the Lu Wan District and its influence in Shanghai’s subculture, items within the collection will also feature the term “Shen,” or Shanghai’s old name.

From the video teaser, the collection looks to includes, Nike SB Dunk Low “Shanghai”, Shanghai edition of Nike Free Run+ 5.0 Shanghai, a special Air Jordan 1, plus a possible Nike Air Foamposite as well as a CLOT collab and more.  But we will have to wait till this Saturday when the special collection becomes available at online store, Nike Huaihai Brand Experience Store in Shanghai, and designated retail outlets.

Release Date: July 13th, 2013 (Saturday)
