Nissan has just announced additional details about their special edition GT-R, including information on its pricing, color, and production numbers. Thanks to its hand-painted Midnight Opal exterior colorway, hyper-titanium colored coating on its RAYS lightweight wheels, and a dry carbon fiber spoiler, you can expect to pay $6,000 more for this model ($105,590) than even their recently released GT-R Premium model. But, when you’re paying for exclusivity – only 50 units will be hitting U.S. shores and another 50 in countries around the world) – and for a handpainted exterior that seems to change based on light conditions and angle between a dark purple and blue, you can bet you’ll need an equally pretty penny to claim one. Under the hood, buyers can find a 3.8-liter VR38DETT twin turbo V6 engine with 545 horsepower and 463 lb-ft of torque, which was hand-assembled in what Nissan says is a “special clean room.” The driver will also able to adjust the shock absorbers, transmission, and Vehicle Dynamic Control from within the car to Normal, Special, and R settings. Finally, if you needed any other indication that this model is “special,” a serialized, gold-plated plague will be displayed within the engine compartment. Expect this one to arrive in September.
