Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture by Karim Rashid

The Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, Canada, is home to the world’s largest exhibition of shoes, highlighted by Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture by Karim Rashid. As the name suggests, the installation explores the history of the sneaker and the culture spawned around it, featuring kicks from the late 1800s through present day. Shoes are displayed within 32 translucent acrylic pedestals, as well as five inset wall displays, with a special Innovation and Design area containing a 40-foot display case dedicated to sneakers by four top Nike designers. The exhibition will be on display at the Bata Shoe Museum of Toronto through April 2014.
