After much speculation, Nike China finally revealed the special ACU x Nike Lunar Force 1 QS "City Pack - Shanghai" over the weekend. With less than 50 pairs available and a majority of those given to friends and family, these are certainly the rarest of the Nike Lunar Force 1 QS "City Pack - Shanghai" collection. Created to celebrate the"old" Luwan District in Shanghai, the elaborately embroidered design in red, along with the initials “ACU” on a black satin upper, also honor the neighborhood's influential boutique, ACU.
Opened in 2007 by entrepreneur Tom Chung (not Edison Chen, as some have suggested), ACU became the very first sneaker store in China to offer Nike Tier-0 products and other exclusives. In fact, long after ACU closed its doors and its remnants became part of JUICE Shanghai, sneakerheads in China still asked about the possibility of ACU's reopening. While this particular edition will not satisfy those inquiries, the interest surrounding it is evident enough in the need for established streetwear/sneaker boutiques in China.
