Following the release of a preview image and subsequent official unveiling in Shanghai, the Nike KD VI “Bamboo” is finally set to hit store shelves. As the name suggests, the shoe’s design echoes the traditional Chinese values associated with bamboo: balance, harmony, toughness and versatility. Bamboo is known to undergo a transformation in its fifth year, which parallels Kevin Durant’s development, as the NBA All-Star is on the cusp of his fifth year in the league. The upper is overlaid with a tonal bamboo graphic, while the green and bronze coloring is inspired by bamboo in its different stages of growth. Special design elements include a KD logo on the outsole drawn from the Chinese character for bamboo, and a sockliner bearing a design inspired by the “Six Arts” of ancient Chinese culture. The Nike KD VI is scheduled to launch September 14th worldwide.
