Apples New Global Headquarters Campus Approved by Cupertino City Council

Earlier this week the Cupertino City Council issued final approval for Apple‘s long-awaited Campus 2, fulfilling one of the final visions of Steve Jobs, the company’s late founder. In a vote of 4-0, the council unanimously approved the massive 2.8-million-square-foot structure, located off Interstate 280. Renderings of the new Apple spaceship campus first appeared in late 2011 — followed by updated plans in May of 2013 — and now Foster + Partners has unveiled a full scale model of the circular facility, complete with surrounding forestation and roadways. By regulation, the Cupertino City Council must meet one more time on Nov. 15 for a final and largely perfunctory vote, but for all intents and purposes the spaceship is now cleared for liftoff. Check out detailed looks of the scale model in the gallery below.
