30-year-old Italian fashion house Moschino has announced Jeremy Scott as its new creative director. It’s the rag trade’s ultimate rags-to-riches story, as the 39-year-old American designer formerly worked as an intern at the luxury brand famous for its playful aesthetic. Scott will succeed Rossella Jardini, who’s been at the creative helm since the passing of founder Franco Moschino in 1994. Scott will debut his first collection during Milan Fashion Week in February of 2014. The company posted the following statement to its website: "This appointment respects the DNA of the brand as Jeremy Scott represents not only an eclectic and contemporary communicator but most of all a designer capable of re-interpreting the identity and the essence of Moschino."
