While it is certain that the wait staff at Carbone have seen their shares of celebrities on a daily basis, they never had this many of them packed into the New York City restaurant before. With hearty Italian hors d'œuvre and plenty of drinks passed around, GQ celebrated the announcement of its Men of the Year 2013 issue on Monday night. Red carpet photographers lined up near the cloakroom as the rule of attraction took hold quickly. Fashion designers Neil Barrett and Italo Zucchelli of Calvin Klein Menswear talked shop in one corner while Questlove, A$AP Rocky, and painterKehinde Wiley exchanged greetings. MSNBC anchorman Willie Geist and his new colleague Ronan Farrow, the supposed son of Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra, swung by for a chat. There was a "villainous pow-wow" as well with actors Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and James Purefoy (The Following) traded tips. Taran Killam, Ethan Hawke, and comedian Amy Schumer, Glenn O'Brien, designer Mark McNairy, chef David Chang (of Momofuku fame), actor Sir Patrick Stewart and wife Sunny Ozell were just some of those in attendance. Then, there was a brief sigh of excitement when supermodels Eniko Mihalik, Alyssa Miller, and Emily Ratajkowski, yes the girl from Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" music video, walked in.
But with all the name dropping, the evening belonged to Justin Timberlake, one of the recipient of GQ Men of the Year 2013 title and cover model for the December 2013 issue. Flanked by wife, actress Jessica Biel, GQ creative director Jim Moore, and GQ creative director Jim Moore, the creative polymath made the round to greet guests and fellow MOTY recipients.
