Originally from Newark, New Jersey, Shaquille O’Neal‘s life would’ve been very different had his family stayed in the so-called “Brick City.” While the city was crime infested and impoverished during O’Neal’s youth, the NBA superstar looked back at that period with pride and described it in a single statement, “These streets didn’t break me, they made me.”
As a homage to his roots, Reebok and Reebok Classic will be introducing the Reebok Shaq Attaq “Brick City” later this month. To help the brand tell the story of this new edition, Reebok asked O’Neal to revisit his birth place. He also stopped by the old playground, where another Newark native, hip-hop artist Redman, joined him for the commercial shoot.
Retails for $160 USD, the Reebok Shaq Attaq “Brick City” will be available on Black Friday, November 29, through Foot Locker, Finish Line, Champs Sports, Jimmy Jazz, Shoe Palace and reebok.com online store.
Release Date: November 29, 2013 (Black Friday)
