The NBA season has kicked off and is in full swing, with a familiar brand making a full-time return to the courts with new performance products. Reebok Basketball is back, and we were invited to attend a special event during the new-look Brooklyn Nets’ season opener versus the defending champs, the Miami Heat.
The Reebok Pumpspective Omni and the Reebok Q96 are the two new feature models, with both pairs drawing inspiration from two of the Vector label’s most iconic sneakers, the Question and Omni Pump. Both pairs feature sleek and modern design details and a marketing campaign that features the Nets’ Jason Terry and young studs Nerlen Noels of the Sixers and Isaiah Thomas of the Kings.
In addition to a product review, Reebok had special guests on hand for the media to speak and interact with. Longtime Reebok endorsee and national basketball powerhouse Saint Anthony’s of Jersey City was represented by Coach Bob Hurley Sr., as well as two of the team’s current players, senior guards Tarin Smith and Cheddi Mosely. The school’s exclusive Q96 was unveiled for the first time, displaying the school’s colors of maroon and gold.
Reebok continued the night with the guest of the evening, the recently retired and lifelong Reebok athlete Allen Iverson, to field a wide variety of questions. Joining Iverson in the room were rappers Jadakiss and Fabolous both of whom came through to show support for Iverson.
The night concluded with an open run on the Barclays floor to give the media a chance to test-wear the Pumpspective and the Q96, with Jason Terry on-hand to play a quick game of knockout. Peep images of the event below and pick up the Pumpspective and Q96, available now at major sneaker retailers, including Foot Locker, Finish Line, Champs, Jimmy Jazz and reebok.com
