Instilled with a physician’s bedside manner, Dr. Harvey Moscot greeted each guest with a smile and firm handshake, including undefeated Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin last Thursday evening. The occasion was not for visit to the good doctor’s office by for the launch of “The Ace,” a collaborative sunglasses between his family’s MOSCOT optical brand and Ace Hotel. While not an easy task since the event was in the midst of Ace Hotel New York‘s heavily trafficked lobby, yet Dr. Moscot took it in stride and offered insights to this very special design.
Promptly named “The Ace,” the limited edition frame features an unique acetate and titanium combination. Inspired in part by MOSCOT’s family archives, now in its 4th generation and still going strong, and Ace Hotel’s industrial aesthetics, The Ace comes with a set of G15 glass lenses in Black-Gunmetal shade. It can fit prescription lenses, if needed, as well. Packaged within a custom made case and “MOSCOT for ACE HOTEL” chamois imprinted with a map of Lower Manhattan, only 400 frames will be available, now for sale through Ace Hotel locations worldwide, MOSCOT retail stores, and both entities’ online shops.
