The M-65 jacket was first issued by the U.S. military in 1965 (hence the name), and in subsequent years the garment eventually graduated to a surplus store essential. Now, it’s been co-opted by fashion designers as a necessity in the modern man’s wardrobe. The shift is understandable, as the M-65 blends utility — highlighted by a stowaway hood and multiple pockets — with a straightforward and wearable silhouette. For the winter season, Stussy goes a step further, swapping water-proof Gore-Tex for the traditional medium-weight cotton. Available in navy, olive and black, the Gore-Tex M-65 Field Jacket launches in Stussy Japan chapter stores starting tomorrow.
