Created by Leica for the influential Gagosian Gallery in New York City, the Leica X2 Gagosian Camera features a APS-C format 16.5 megapixels CMOS image sensor and an Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH lens. Quipped with a pop-up flash and other amenities, designers at Leica also perfected all the nuance, from instrumentation to software, so photographers can fine tune the camera to suit their needs. When asked about the partnership, gallery owner Larry Gagosian said, “Considering the many important photographers who have used Leica cameras over the years, we are thrilled to not only offer Leica products at Gagosian Shop but also to have the opportunity to create our own unique Leica Camera.” Roland Wolff, Vice President of Marketing for Leica Camera USA, added “The limited-edition Leica X2 Gagosian Camera continues Leica’s rich heritage in all technical aspects and function, married with an artistic flair reflective of Gagosian’s presence in the world of art.”
In sturdy metal construct decorated with an Expressionist style design, only 100 units will be made and available exclusively through Gagosian Shop on 976 Madison Avenue and its online store starting on December 12, 2013.
