A deviation from the current Gold Wing F6B, the new Honda Gold Wing F6C Valkyrie for model year 2014 derived from the same GL1800 Gold Wing platform, yet has been stripped down to a streamlined design. Also known simply as the Honda Valkyrie, gone is the windscreen, though the distinctive “wing-like” profile is still there. While made from lightweight aluminum, its massive powerplant lowered the vehicle’s center of gravity to help with stability and cornering. In fact, the bike’s handling and ride quality is similar to its more nimbler counterpart, despite the hefty appearances.
Powered by a 1,832cc horizontally opposed SOHC 12-valve flat-6 engine and a five-speed gearbox, responsive stoppage comes in the form of four-piston and three-piston calipers, along with a 2-channel ABS. Other safety features include a full ensemble of LED lights, from headlight, taillight, to running lights and turn signal indicators, all to provide a brighter presence during rides at night or in poor visibility conditions.
