Representing Moore’s Law of entertainment, Bang & Olufsen‘s latest sound system is aimed directly at making your music experience as easy as flipping a switch. With a look like the Next Thermostat, this small gadget is tuned to turn on your music as you walk into a room or turn on a lightswitch. That’s right; this baby has motion sensors that activate sound as you walk into a room and slowly fade it off as you walk out. Mount it on a table or on a wall wirelessly and control its source via a streaming device that can be tucked away in a closet or on a shelf via AirPlay, DLNA, Spotify, QPlay, or of the global internet radio stations. B&O is understandably entering a busy market, but by making enjoying music even easier that it was before – i.e., hitting a button – they may be on to something here. The entire system costs $995 with additional units costing $200 each. B&O expects to ship the Essence this spring.
