After master animator and filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki put a period at the end of an incredibly long and impressive resume with his announcement of his last animated feature, The Wind Rises, another venerable cartoon franchise brings him in for one last curtain call. In a sequence from this week’s episode, The Simpsons will pay tribute to the anime master with a scene that brings together some of his most famous films, including the above Catbus (via Otto), the scarecrow Turnip-Head (Moe), and the castle (aka Kwik-E-Mart), as well as Kiki the witch multiplied by two by Patty and Selma. There are plenty of more subtle nods to his work throughout the episode that you’ll have to keep an eye out for when the whole show airs this coming Sunday on FOX.0 The Simpsons Tribute to Filmmaker Hayao Miyazakivia theverge
