As a Brit living in Milan, Neil Barrett is influenced by the sharp tailoring of his native land and the luxurious craftsmanship of his adopted hometown. At Milan Fashion Week, Barrett showed off both sensibilities through his Fall/Winter 2014 collection, in which outerwear was the star of the show. There were ombre topcoats and straightforward leather bombers, as well as duffle coats in a unique marbled leather finish and an overcoat seemingly constructed with a top half in leather and a lower half in suede. Meanwhile, sweaters and jackets adorned with jagged lightning bolts provided a relief from the somber color palette, offering a playful energy to contrast the subdued aesthetic.
