2014 sees the relaunch of the original 1969 OMEGA Speedmaster Mark II, featuring a modern movement encased in a streamlined design that’s true to the original. The polished and brushed stainless steel case is barrel-shaped and features a polished crown and pushers. Details include a date corrector at 10 o’clock and a dial fitted with three sub-dials: 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. The transparent tachymetric scale on the sapphire crystal is illuminated from beneath by an aluminium ring filled with Super-LumiNova, and the hour and minute hands are coated with Super-Lumi- Nova. The movement, meanwhile, is Co-Axial calibre 3300, a self-winding movement equipped with an Si14 silicon balance spring and a column-wheel chronograph mechanism. The timepiece will be released in two versions — a traditional black dial and a grey dial with fluorescent orange accents. Look for it to make its debut at BASELWORLD 2014.
