Even though this is the first time we are laying our eyes on the new Jordan Future, it still feels like we have met before. Is it the familiar upper with a Jordan XI-esque shape? Or is it the midsole with components like a carbon fiber plate and full-length Air unit for a smooth ride? Whatever it is, the Jordan Future is both new and old, building on the things we love about the brand and their design and pointing us in a new direction in footwear. The biggest draw here is the obvious woven upper, built with 3M threads running down each segment, and the off-center lacing system. Mix in a little suede on the tongue and ankle collar and this silhouette with almost a 20 year history gets a new lightweight, innovative, and modern-looking make-over. The Jordan Brand is obviously confident in their new project, which will understandably draw some mixed reviews at first, but that’s not their fault; it’s human nature to try to resist change. But, in the end, we will all be thanking them. The Jordan Future releases on March 1, and will retail for $185.
