Kim Jones, menswear designer for Louis Vuitton, had a vision for the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection that centered around travel. Tailor made for the modern day globetrotter, the goods were inspired by South America, with ravel suits of matching trousers and tops, along with leisurewear made from the superfine chin hair of Peruvian vicuna. The modes strode on a runway printed with aerial photographs and NASA images taken from space of Machu Picchu and the Atacama Desert, while needlepoint pinstripes on peaked lapel cashmere overcoats were mined from traditional Peruvian designs. From the lightweight travel parkas to the double-breasted suiting, the collection was meant to be portable and packable, a notion emphasized by the signature luxury bags the models carried.
