For fall 2014, the NYC brand Ernest Alexander draws inspiration from the 1920s American motorcycle sport known as board track racing. It was a time when racers were equipped with heavy wools and leathers as part of their race day uniform, complete with woven shirts and classic chinos tucked into riding boots for a dashing, dapper look. Ernest incorporates those past elements for a modern take on those wardrobe staples, finished in dark, masculine colors ideal for fall. Outerwear pieces make up some of the collection’s standouts, with lambskin leather-racing jackets or a shearling collared flight jacket worn over knits, classic woven shirts and wool vests. Signature travel bags and accessories, built with leather and wax cotton, complete the collection.
