J.Crew Fall/Winter 2014 Menswear Collection Presentation

According to J.Crew‘s menswear mastermind Frank Muytjens, the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection is inspired by “the waterfront of 1930s New York — longshoremen hauling cargo, steel-girded ships and anchor chains.” The result is a series of classic looks that are both rugged and refined, highlighted by diamond-quilted bomber jackets, unstructured topcoats, pier-appropriate belted parkas and a series of patterned sweaters, all in a color palette skewing toward maritime navys and grays. The utilitarian looks are blended with sharply tailored suiting, along with a classic American vibe that sees rigid jeans paired with a military-inspired flight jacket and sweatpants worn with just about anything. Once again, Frank Mutjens and company show why J.Crew is always the coolest shop in the mall.
