NYC’s Touchscreen Subway Maps

New York City’s subway riders are finally getting the touchscreen maps they were originally promised for summer 2013. Over the last month the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority has installed 18 new On the Go touchscreen travel kiosks inside the Grand Central subway station, while also announcing plans to roll out at least 77 new On the Go kiosks in stations throughout the city. The current kiosks — built in collaboration with local technology consulting firm Control Group — feature an interactive map that shows the best route to your chosen destination, as well a listing of real-time subway train arrival estimates or scheduled departures for the Metro-North Railroad from Grand Central.
