Not only will Tupac grace the playbill of Broadway theaters this summer, the late hip-hop artist will soon be on the silver screen neat you as well. According to an exclusive report by industry trade publication Variety, movie director John Singleton just signed a deal to produce a biopic based on the young rapper’s life. Best known for his breakout film Boyz n the Hood, Singleton directed Tupac “2pac” Shakur. alongside Janet Jackson in his 1993 film Poetic Justice. “Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,” Singleton added. “His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.” In addition to the film’s production, Singleton will also be rewriting the existing script and directing the film as well.
