With professional skater Jason Dill at front and center, NYC-based Supreme unveiled its collection lookbook for Spring/Summer 2014. More just a street fashion brand now, proprietor James Jebbia and his team of designers have become archivists of sort when it comes to the history of obscure subculture. No where is that more obvious than the Siouxsie Pullover, a pinkish tie-dye hoodie featuring the female punk rocker Siouxsie Sioux from the pioneering band Siouxsie and the Banshees. Another musical reference is the Supreme x Dead Kennedys Work Jacket featuring the cover art of In God We Trust, Inc. from punk band Dead Kennedys. It isn’t just subculture however, mainstream trends of the 70s and 80s are also quite prominent in this new collection, such as the Pink Panther Sweater, a staple among the 80s’ yuppy/pop-art set. Finally, be on the lookout for collaborations between Schott NYC, Champion and Playboy this season.
