There were already thousands of reasons for sneakerheads to head to Sneaker Con New Orleans last weekend, but there was probably one that stood out: a visit by Dwyane Wade. Wade arrived at the event not only to join the estimated 4,000 other visitors to browse the wares to buy or trade, but to help promote his partnership with Li-Ning, a title sponsor of the All Star Weekend Sneaker Con event and the force behind a custom brand space within the larger event. The Li-Ning space included interactively wrapped SUVs, cell phone charging stations, photo booths, a T-shirt press, artists painting live (i.e. Jeremy Paten and Kickasso), and of course, a limited number of All Star WOW 2.0s, which sold out in both pink/black and black/yellow. While the fans did their part in supporting Wade and his Li-Ning signature, Wade himself bolstered his “Make Your Own Way” mantra by telling the fans that his relationship with the brand means, “I’m able to do things that I wasn’t able to do with previous brands and that’s kind of be a little bit more creative and have a little bit more control of how things are done.” Continue after the click to see a video recap of the event and see more stills from his trip.
