Apple has announced CarPlay, billed as the best iPhone experience on four wheels and available on select 2014 automobiles. Essentially what CarPlay does is take the things you normally do on your iPhone and transfers those functions to your car’s in-dash display. After an iOS update, users will connect their iPhones via the car’s USB port and allow Siri to let you easily access your contacts, make calls, return missed calls or listen to voicemails. When incoming messages or notifications arrive, Siri provides an eyes-free experience by responding to requests through voice commands and lets uses dictate responses or simply make a call. Additionally, navigation will become more intuitive, as CarPlay works with Maps to anticipate destinations based on recent trips via contacts, emails or texts, and subsequently provides routing instructions, traffic conditions and ETA. Apple CarPlay, available as an update to iOS 7, will work with iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5, along with select cars shipping in 2014. Go here for more information.
