Like the growth in popularity the sport of running experienced during the 1970s and 80s in the US, Nike sees a similar trend in China now. For that reason, Nike Running hosted its annual media summit for Nike Free in the Middle Kingdom once again. With Aries Merritt, won the 2012 Olympic Gold Metal in the 110m hurdles, on site to demonstrate the flexibility of the new Nike Free Collection. He’s joined by three of China’s newest “influencers” – actress/model Re Yizha, actress/model Chen Ra and professional snowboarder Liu Jiayu – who spoke about their experiences during training for this year’s Shanghai Marathon. To address all the finite design and technical elements that went into each Nike Free models, Rob Dolan, Nike Running Senior Designer, took the attendees through the design process from start to finish. The presentation also marked the debut of Ernest Kim, formerly the Senior Global Product Line Manager for Nike and now as its Director of Footwear Innovation. Meanwhile, expect the new Nike Free Collection for 2014 to arrive at a Nike retailer near you starting this month.
