In a post on his own Facebook page, founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg added that they will “…make Oculus a platform for many other experiences…” from tele-education, tele-medicine or just a new way to communicate with one another. Zuckerberg also reassured the Oculus customers and fans of the virtual reality gaming community that the company “…will continue operating independently within Facebook…”

Founded by Palmer Luckey, a 21-year-old who dropped out college to focus on his virtual reality invention, Oculus first got its start as a https://kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game” target=”_blank”>KICKSTARTER project back in August of 2012. It also gained the support of industry insiders like John Carmack, co-founder of the pioneering game developer http://idsoftware.com” target=”_blank”>id Software who is now Oculus’ CTO. To dispelled the notion that this was a “get rich quick” scheme, Oculus issued a statement that “…over the next 10 years, virtual reality will become ubiquitous, affordable, and transformative, and it begins with a truly next-generation gaming experience. This partnership ensures that the Oculus platform is coming, and that it’s going to change gaming forever…” Always upbeat, the team signed off with “We’ll see you in the Metaverse!”
