The self-winding annual calendar chronograph known as the Patek Philippe 5960 has been a stalwart in the Swiss watch manufacturer’s lineup for a number of years now, and the new season sees the piece undergo a radical makeover. The launch of the Reference 5960/1A represents one of the few Patek Philippe watches built with steel — complete with an accompanying steel bracelet — and signals the end of the the previous references, which are now summarily discontinued. The layout of the chronograph subdial has also been revised, while the caliber (CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H) is unchanged. The 40.5mm steel case contains a two-tone silvery/grey dial and is fitted on steel “droplet” link-bracelet folding clasp. Retail price is listed for now at $54,800, but is subject to change until delivery.
