Porsche 918 Spyder Hot Lap | Video

By - April 15th, 2014

Professional race car driver Patrick Long, winner of multiple auto racing events and the lone American employed as a Porsche factory racing driver, recently got behind the wheel of the new plug-in hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder in Austin, Texas. He took the vehicle — powered by a 4.6-liter direct-injection V8 good for 608 horsepower, plus two electric motors producing another 279 horses — for a hot lap at the new Circuit of the Americas, where he exited the pit lane under all-electric mode, accelerated in the sport hybrid mode, and executed the hot-lap button on the back straight at a scorching 170 mph. The best part, much of the video is shot from the viewpoint of Long himself, delivering the full 918 experience. Check out the clip below.
