The new Los Angeles headquarters for Funny or Die is what one would expect from the irreverent humor site — modern, slightly off-kilter and full of bright, high-energy colors. Occupying the first two floors of a new building on The Lot, an historic production studio dating back to the silent film era, the space was designed by the Los Angeles firm Clive Wilkinson Architects. A raw, industrial aesthetic finds structural walls and floors laid out in bare concrete, while reception and communal spaces feature exposed metal stud framing, unfinished plywood, galvanized metal and pegboard. The central glass-walled meeting room features astro-turf for a whimsical touch, while smaller offices allow for the company’s 65 L.A.-based employees to work in discrete teams.
