Ahead of the 2014 World Cup, Nike held a special event in Madrid to unveil the brand’s entire collection of footwear, apparel and equipment innovation for both players and fans alike. The home and away kits for the ten federations that will wear Nike in Brazil were out on display, featuring performance benefits including laser-cut ventilation, engineered mesh and Nike Dri-FIT technology, along with cultural design elements unique to each country. Additional player collections, gathered under the “athlete journey” banner and overseen by Nike Football creative director Martin Lotti, were created for everything from warm-ups media and appearances to travel and downtime. Off-pitch lifestyle pieces for fans, meanwhile, included the N98 Track Jacket, Nike League Polo, Nike Tech Pant, Tech Fleece Full Zip Hoody, IRD Saturday Jacket and Tiempo ’94. Finally, an artist collaboration was presented with the Nike Skateboarding team and graphic artist Flip, featuring a joint venture that comprises three limited-edition jerseys for Brazil (home and away) and the U.S. (away).
