When Leica introduced the first compact camera in 1925, the German company revolutionized the world of photography with the 35mm shooter, invented by optical engineer Oskar Barnack. That initial landmark innovation wouldn’t be the last, as Leica’s first compact digital model, the 1.5 MP Digilux, would launch in 1998. A decade later, the Leica S2 would debut, representing a medium-format professional camera highlighted by durability and ease of use for photographers on the go.
