Teaming up with WATCHxWITNESS, a photography collective established by http://jasongoldwatch.com” target=”_blank”>Jason Goldwatch and http://13thwitness.com” target=”_blank”>13th WITNESS, Russ Karablin of http://ssur.com” target=”_blank”>SSUR looks back on how New York City used to be in his new “Coney Island” Collection. Steeped in references from pre-gentrification, the three collaborators captured the last visages of Coney Island, Brooklyn, before it gives way to luxury real estate development currently encroaching the area. Inspired in part by the 1979 cult classic The Warriors, Karablin also demonstrates the plight of the area with an outline of the Coney Island’s Astroland amusement park collapsing on its side. Comprises of tees, hoodies, tank tops, denims, caps, and handball, the “Coney Island” Summer 2014 Collection by SSUR is available through its flagship store in New York City and online shop.
