Acclaimed British artist Dave White has opened a solo exhibition at L.A.’s Gusford gallery, dubbed “Apex” and focusing on the animal kingdom’s top predators. The show features a new series of oil paintings conceptualized around the iconography of the great white shark, a species that embodies “beauty, movement and dynamism,” as well as a fragility that threatens its position at the top of the aquatic food chain. Expect work that are large in scale, rendered in brush strokes that convey anatomical accuracy that’s expressive as it is precise. Check out a video interview with the artist, and be sure to visit Gusford gallery if you’re in the area. Dave White’s “Apex” exhibition runs until June 21, 2014.
