Ahead of 2014 FIFA World Cup’s first game this Thursday, Nike Soccer just released “The Last Game” animated feature, the third installment to its #RiskEverything campaign. Created in part by Nike, advertising giant Wieden+Kennedy and Passion Pictures, the studio that helped bringing virtual band Gorillaz to life, the five-minute short centers on some of the world’s greatest soccer players, in caricature forms, going up against a villain simply known as The Scientist.
In his effort to “perfect” the beautiful game, The Scientist introduced his army of The Clones, perfectly engineered soccer players with 100% chance of winning. Perfect in every way, The Clones very quickly relegated their human counterparts to the sideline, then off the pitch completely. Forced into early retirements, many of the players tried to live a normal life till Ronaldo (O Fenómeno) rallied them to fight for the future of soccer once again. Featuring the likeness of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar Jr., Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Luiz, Wayne Rooney, Tim Howard, Franck Ribéry and Ronaldo, you can view “The Last Game” now at nike.com/riskeverything.
