To mark the opening of “Jeff Koons: A Retrospective” exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City later this month, event sponsor H&M will be showcasing the artist’s work on a limited edition product line. Billed as “Jeff Koons for H&M” Collection and featuring a leather handbag with the graphic print of Koon’s iconic Balloon Dog statue, the project also showcases H&M’s longtime commitment to art and culture. Additionally, H&M will be introducing the collaboration at its newly opened New York City flagship store on 589 Fifth Avenue. Steps away from Rockefeller Center and Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, the new storefront, H&M’s fourth location on the historical Fifth Avenue, boasts some 57,000 square feet with a five-floor atrium and a giant 26’ x 20’ LED screen. Finished with green and white marble tiles, herringbone wood paneling, and a glass curtain wall, the opulent shopping destination will be the company’s largest store thus far. It also be the first H&M store to offer the “Jeff Koons for H&M” Collection, follow by a limited release at select locations in Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas, as well as online at hm.com.

“The partnership with H&M was really exciting for me and the chance to showcase one of my most popular works to a new generation of people was inspiring. H&M delivers great fashion season after season and it’s nice to see my work at their new store,” says Jeff Koons.

The new H&M flagship store at 589 Fifth Avenue will be opening on Thursday, July 17th. As a way of saying “thank you”, the first 500 shoppers in line will get a H&M t-shirt and an Access to Fashion Pass, valued from $10 to $500. “Jeff Koons: A Retrospective” opens on June 27th running through October 19th, 2014 at the Whitney Museum of American Art, located at 945 Madison Avenue at 75th street in Manhattan.
