Maison Martin Margiela – Spring/Summer 2015 Collection | Runway Show

Maison Martin Margiela took to Paris Fashion Week to upend conventional menswear fabrics. The Paris-based design house’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection used assorted synthetic polyamides on outerwear, highlighted by neoprene backing on a leather rider jacket, and elsewhere, parachute fabric on long coats worn over lightweight shirts and blazers. A sense of “disorderly mismatch” ranged from the sublime (a safari jacket paired with tuxedo pants) to the ridiculous (pant legs of varying materials and lengths), offering a studied take on deconstruction that’s encoded in the Margiela DNA. Finally, sequined and beaded tops were designed to take on the appearance of large tattoos printed across the body — a fitting flourish for a brand that prides itself for its conceptual expertise.
