maharishi took to London Collections: Men — the capital’s three-day Fashion Week held in June — to present its stellar Spring/Summer 2015. For inspiration, maharishi traveled to the Middle East to retrace the steps of Italian artist Alighiero Boetti, discoverer of the Viet-Afghan Coalition and a frequent collaborator with Afghan embroiderers, creating monumental pieces that would come to be seen as some of his most iconic works. Boetti was also the first artist to take military disruptive patterned cloth and present it in a gallery context, making the late conceptual artist a fitting inspiration for maharishi’s creative team. Consequently, the crew traveled to Italy to reclaim surplus nylons originally printed for the Italian army, as well as vintage Italian Military jumpsuits to create long fitted pants. Vietnam War-style tour Jackets adorned with traditional Afghan artwork combined to bolster the Vietnam/Afghanistan connection. Check out the runway video below.
