With no advance notice, Nike summarily dropped the Nike+ FuelBox vending machine in New York City last week. The enclosed Nike goodies — made up mostly of socks, tees and hats — could be had not with cold hard cash (or credit cards) but with the Swoosh’s own form of currency, Nike Fuel. One catch: the machine only accepts your daily Nike Fuel points, and not your total allotment, which means you’d have to move around a bit before trading in your virtual chips. Another not-so-small sticking point: it seems the Nike+ FuelBox was a limited time offer, as the machine has already vacated New York City. Stay tuned for word on its next location.
