Public School x Air Jordan 1 “PSNY” | Detailed Look

After toiling for years in sweats and tears, Public School’s designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne are enjoying the fruits of their labor with a succession of awards. First came the 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, then the 2014 CFDA award for Menswear Designer of the Year followed by this month’s Woolmark Prize for Menswear. In thanking their family and friends for the unconditional love and support they gotten through the thick and thin, the New York City-based design duo created a special gift – a pair of Air Jordan 1 meant for friends and family only.

Inspired by the very streets they walked on everyday, Chow and Osborne derived their Public School x Air Jordan 1 “PSNY” with a mix of nubuck underlay and smooth leather overlay. Rested on a cement colorway midsole with speckled accents, the silhouette is a literal reflection of asphalt, cobblestone, and sidewalk you will find on New York City’s streets. Embossed with acronym “PS” on the left pair and “NY” on the right, the collaborators added a red base in translucent outsole and a red Jumpman NYC “manhole” cover emblem on the footbed to complete the design theme.

With only 50 made, the Public School x Air Jordan 1 “PSNY” will be a friends and family exclusive. Meanwhile, a “NY23” edition will be available soon for the general public via Flight 23 Jordan Brand retail store and stay tuned for other possible Public School collaborations with Jordan Brand and others in the near future.
