Rumors of a new Gorillaz album dropping in 2016 have turned out to be premature. Recording for the album was supposed to have started last September, but footage from studio sessions just emerged in April. In other words, it would appear things are running behind schedule. A fan-run Instagram account, GorillazNorthAmerica, has confirmed a new release date for 2017, straight from the mouth of Jamie Hewlett. According to the group's cofounder, the album is "very special" and "can't be rushed." Stay tuned.
