At COMME Des GARÇONS' recent Paris Fashion Week show, Rei Kawakubo wowed critics with a presentation that mixed comically exaggerated silhouettes with nontraditional materials, including felt and metallic foil, alongside textiles seemingly drawn from mattress fabric and industrial insulation. But for our purposes, it was the sneaker on the models' feet that deserved special attention, as they offered a first look at a never before seen COMME des GARCONS x Nike collaboration. The silhouette takes the form of the Nike Lunar Epic Flyknit, featuring a white-hued Flyknit upper topped with a black bow tie at the forefoot. Like the collaborative Dunk High and VaporMax before it, this Fashion Week sneaker preview likely presages a retail launch months in advance. Stay tuned.
