Freshness Week In Review 4/19/2010 4/23/2010

Whether one condones marijuana, uses it, hates it or is simply supportive because of its lucrativeness, 420 has come and gone and many labels and companies had geared up with related releases. The biggest drop of all is the Nike SB Dunk Hi Premium “Skunk”, which inspired Maven to dress its windows up as a nursery for the lush green marijuana plants to match the shoes. Then, following the 420 hoopla, Gizmodo outed Apple Software Engineer, Gray Powell, and released images of the iPhone 4G prototype Powell lost at a German Beer Garden. In the span of a week, Powell’s life has probably changed drastically, going from day to night, but people have been supportive (not to mention we all enjoyed the leak) and Lufthansa has offered Powell a business class round-ticket to Munich to enjoy some local brews.

420 and iPhone saga aside, this week spots some great releases, previews and events around the city. Keep reading to find out the biggest news that you should not miss, so you can end the week on the right, and well-informed note. Enjoy!

Nike Air Footscape Free Motion | New Colorways

Easily identifiable by the strategic and deliberate repositioning of lace system to the side, the Nike Air Footscape Free Motion is essentially the hybrid of three wonderful technologies from Nike– the Nike Footscape silhouette, the ultra-lightweight Nike Flywire Technology, and the Nike Free grooved sole. It is no wonder that this shoe is not only designed for, but also favored by modern day runners who have laced up and never looked back.

fragment design x Nike Air Footscape Freemotion Purple

A concept originated far apart from the normal footwear design process, the Nike Footscape came to existence on the basis of how a pair of shoe should really fit. This translated to an off-set lace system and a prong contour that reflects the natural inclination of foot shapes. All make Footscape one of the most comfortable footwear in relation to its peers. Now comes this purple variant created by none other than Hiroshi Fujiwara and his fragment design branch. The exclusive Footscape Freemotion feature a purple sheath with Flywire, covering a breathable, lightweight mesh in white. To signify the collaboration, fragment design’s logo are encrusted on both front and back heel pulls. Scheduled to launch later this year, the fragment design x Nike Footscape Freemotion is currently available in very limited number at MarqueeSole.

Nike Sportswear - Spring/Summer 2010 - Six (6) Colllaboration - USA - Mister Cartoon

Collaborations have established itself to be an integral part of the consumer market today. While some collaborations are tried and true, many lack the zest and right components to yield exceptional results. Nike is no stranger to collaboration as 2009 marked an extensive and impressive portfolio of collaborative projects, each garnering its own devoted following. Some of the bigger collaborations of 2009 of course included the high profile Air Yeezys created with the help of musical whiz and paparazzi favorite, Kanye West, and fast forward to the end of the year, a rather expansive East versus West project which pit creative personalities from the east coast against those from the west.
