Supra Cruzier Grape Colorway

Having to live in the shadow of success of the Supra Skytop, the Cruzier has not caused much buzz until now.  Taking design hues from the Air Jordan IV with the mesh side panel (don’t worry- these won’t have to be legit checked), these Cruziers will sport a colorway reminiscent of the Air Jordan V’s.  Expect these to drop sometime this Spring at skate shops like Factory 413.  Image via: Daily Drop.

PUMA Off Shore Race Jacket

This past October, PUMA entered the Volvo Ocean Race.  Considered to be the ‘Everest of Sailing,’ the VOR is a nine month round-the-world race where sailors must endure the most extreme of environments, from the icy conditions of the Southern Ocean to the hot and humid climates of Brazil and India.

With direct input from the PUMA Ocean Racing Team, a line of performance sailing gear was developed to ensure protection from any weather circumstance.  One of the key pieces was the Off Shore Jacket.  Key features include lightweight fabrics for total freedom and maximum movement, a 3-layer Gore-Tex Performance Shell that is both water and wind proof, fully adjustable double cuffs, and taped seams.

Though the jacket was created specifically for the Ocean Racing Team, these jackets will be released exclusively at Classic Kicks, Training Camp, , Commonwealth and BDGA.  The key performance and safety features that make this essential for these hardcore sailors also makes for the perfect jacket for the urban warrior facing the harsh elements of everyday life.  These jackets are expected to release this Saturday, January 24th.

Nike Hyperdunk That Aint Right Pack

When Nike wanted to promote the arrival of the innovative Nike Hyperdunk, the brand ran several ads featuring defenders getting dunked on with typical basketball ‘trash talk’ written across the image.  However, some of these ads were considered of poor taste and even homophobic.  The ads, created by Portland’s Weiden+Kennedy Agency, were immediately removed from the campaign hoping to save face for Nike’s highly anticipated release.  Now, months later, Nike shows its sense of humor and humility by creating a Hyperdunk pack featuring the same punchline from the controversial ad on the sole.  These are now available at NikeStore.com

ONLY NY Old New York Subway Archives

ONLY NY, an independent brand hailing from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, has recently created a compilation of photographs depicting NYC transit and graffiti’s overtaking of the subway system.  The NYC Subway Archives is a perfect reflection of the brand’s conceptual journey into timeless street apparel.  With graffiti artists being an integral part to sneaker collaborations and more lately, packaging and product design, ONLY gives insight to what New York was like when graffiti was still far from sought as fine art, but rather criminal vandalism.  The collection features some work from well known artists such as Espo and Seen.

Stephen Sprouse “Rock on Mars” Exhibition @ Deitch

Last night was the preview for Louis Vuitton’s Stephen Sprouse “Rock on Mars” tribute exhibition held at the Deitch Projects‘ Wooster Street Gallery. Stephen Sprouse (1953-2004) was one of the most influential fashion designers of his time and a key figure in the dynamic mix of punk rock, wild style graffiti, and street influenced fashion that characterized the downtown New York community in the early 1980s. He was one of the first to build on the influence of Andy Warhol to create a fusion of art, music and fashion. The exhibition features Sprouse’s bright Day-Glo fashion works, as well as paintings depicting popular rock imagery, such as Sid Vicious, stacks of loudspeakers, and a crucifixion of Iggy pop. Also video installations of Sprouse’s fabric and furniture design for Knoll. The after party at the Bowery Ballroom, was decorated to fit Sprouse’s style, featured DJ Jus Ske and performance by Debbie Harry, a good friend of Sprouse and had one of a kind fashion pieces from.

In association with the exhibition, Marc Jacobs, who has been highly influenced by the famed late designer, has created a new collection for Louis Vuitton, inspired by 2001′s famous collaboration between Jacobs and Sprouse to make graffiti-style handbags.
