Nike Air Yeezy

After months and months of speculation, the Air Yeezy will finally be released. The high top sneaker that pays homage to various historic Air Jordan and sneakers from ’s history was designed by along with designer, Mark Smith, together they created a shoe that not only looks great but also was able to keep the Louis Vuitton Don comfortable while touring across the world on his Glow in the Dark Tour. The first color of the Air Yeezy is the Zen Grey and Light Charcoal colorway that has been spotted on West’s feet on a number of occasions as well as DJ AM’s in the latest NIKEiD Kobe Bryant commercial. The Air Yeezy features a glow in the dark outsole, midfoot strap, as well as a new “Y” shaped lacelock. Additionally the shoe features a new all over “Y” print that was inspired by the Air Jordan Elephant Print.

The first colorway that will be released is this Zen Grey and Light Charcoal colorway, pictured above. Two additional colorways are scheduled to be released in the upcoming months in addition to the Zen Grey and Light Charcoal colorway, including a Black/Black colorway and a Net/Net colorway. via: NikeTalk.

London Fashion Week Round Up

Men.Style.Com’s Tim Blanks pull together the best bits, as they say in London town, from the UK’s less celebrated (Kanye blows it off) but still edgy week of style. With 13 designers crammed into the last day, it’s a jetset affair; in and out in 18 hours and back to your desk. Blanks sums it up justly:

“There were three distinct strands: the showy, the sporty, and the (relatively) classic. They often mingled, as in Tim Soar’s zipper-trimmed bird’s eye suit, or Alister Mackie’s fabulous outerwear for Topman, or Martine Rose’s shirts with their subtle mix of cloth and texture.”

 Roc Star Spring Summer Collection

Going hard in Tokyo for the better part of this decade, Roc Star started pumping up the Tokyo streetwear scene in 2001, as a dance inspired spin-off from the brand Hectic, part of the earliest streetwear explosion in Japan. Helmed by Dexpistols‘ frontman DJ Daruma (you could say he’s Tokyo’s equivalent of Busy P), the brand has hooked-up creatively with avant-hop brand PHENOMENON for some note trading, as the two brands push street style forward one level with the Roc Star S/S Collection. Across sportswear standards, the brand mixes some patterns with graphics that work best in the middle of the dancefloor.

Tim Hamilton Fall 2009 Collection
Photos by: The New York Times

Perhaps better known to our readers for his collaborative work with UNIQLO, Tim Hamilton may be one of the more “chops” (and less buzz) oriented designers of today. Having sharpened his skills at conservative lines J. Crew and Polo, Hamilton must be relieved to be at it solo for another season, this time around creating a range that’s far from his casual roots. As Tim Blanks puts it “Hamilton pushed the tailoring for fall, streamlining the silhouette, narrowing lapels [and] shrinking collars.”

Corpus Fall 2009 Collection

L.A. homed brand Corpus has been coasting through the fashion world, climbing their way towards runway-scene. With what started as jeans and tops in a particularly streetwise fashion, the brand has honed their aesthetic and design chops to create a butt-kicker of a fall 2009 range. Hipsterisms of skinny jeans tie the brand to their starting point in the denim crazy days of the early half of this decade, but with a wide variety of knits, wovens and outerwear, you couldn’t say they’re spinning their wheels. Corpus has typically stuck to their guns on keeping collections tonal, this range no exception with a focus on a black/white/grey/blue palette.

Yancey Richardson Gallery Alex Prager Exhibit

Photographer Alex Prager has the ball rolling in 2009. She just came off a piece for Details, having the chance to shoot the venerable Stan Lee, and you can catch her latest collection “The Big Valley” at Yancey Richardson through the end of March. Her style is immediately cinematic, and “The Big Valley” in particular takes you back to some of celluloid’s more memorable moments, slyly referencing films like Valley of the Dolls and Birds.

Opening Ceremony M8 Saddle Shoe

As the classic casual silhouettes revival marches on, Opening Ceremony has spotted their opening with a few styles that take the traditional and twist it out just a bit. The M8 Saddle Shoe for example; a lace up oxford gets a new coat of blue paint and next thing you know you’re an extra from American Graffiti.

Surface To Air Star Sneaker

Perennial favorite to graphic designers around the globe, Surface To Air has maintained a cool little niche in the fashion world for, jeez, what’s going on for about a decade pretty quick here. After much experimentation with different sneaker silhouettes, it seems like they’ve settled on one that works for this spring- the Star model. In a variety of colors mixed in suede and leather, the star takes a nod from the Chuck Taylor but elongates the toe box and adds in some more ’80s vibes in the embellishments.
